Attractive protection: Stainless steel mesh roller shutters

Kindly note that we are a certified essential service during the COVID-19 lockdown, please view our certificate for more information.

Not many secure closure solutions offer protection from unwanted access and theft while also looking good. The roller shutters produced from GKD metallic mesh deliver all the characteristics expected of reliable access barriers.

Fully automatic, quiet, and smooth, they can be raised and lowered both quickly and easily. Produced from rugged stainless steel mesh, they offer adequate protection. At the same time, their visually sophisticated design impresses with elegant transparency. Three different mesh types – Tigris, Lago, and Sambesi – cover all desired light transmission levels. Measuring up to eight meters wide and five meters high, the roller shutters from GKD protect large display windows, shopping arcades, or underground parking garages. Despite offering excellent protection, the discreetly shimmering mesh membrane grants unrestricted views of the rooms or displays it secures. The protective skin can also provide fantastic framing of the protected area using targeted lighting.

London-based architecture firm Wilson Owens Owens chose this exceptional interplay of functionality, transparency, and aesthetics for the design of the new West Entrance at Twickenham Stadium. Eight large-format roller shutters produced from Tigris stainless steel mesh – each measuring 2,700 millimeters high and between 6,100 and 6,895 millimeters wide – close off the entrances when no matches are being played. However, they still grant fans unobstructed views of the pitch at the world’s largest rugby stadium. Featuring low maintenance costs, a high degree of functional reliability, and a long service life, the weather-resistant closure systems satisfy the stadium’s demanding facility management requirements in terms of sustainability.
