The Optimized Dutch Weave (ODW) and Porometric mesh product ranges display proven effectiveness in many process and wastewater treatment applications, particularly for large-volume filtration. The specific pore geometry of the ODW – small, slot-shaped pores on the surface and larger pores inside the mesh – is what provides its high dirt holding capacity, while at the same time securing low flow resistance. In addition, good regenerability and high mechanical strength contribute to a long service life. In fine filtration applications for wastewater, ODWs produced from stainless steel have been setting standards for many years thanks to their precisely defined pore geometry, exact filtration rates, and high permeability. For industrial and municipal micro sieving, the field-proven, single-ply mesh design combines a geometric pore size of 6 µm with a low clogging tendency. The three-dimensional Porometric high-performance mesh represents further development of this range of materials. This mesh type, which has already won multiple awards, features a highly open, ridge-shaped weave with rectangular pore structure. Compared with a flat mesh, Porometric offers a 30% greater free filter surface and up to 40% higher flow rates. This innovative filtration mesh is also characterized by a low clogging tendency and a significantly lower drop in pressure. With an open area of up to 90%, it therefore achieves the best results in terms of separation performance, dirt holding capacity, and cleaning in process water and waste water filtration applications. The lower weight per unit area, as well as the reduced energy and space requirements, also makes this product particularly cost-effective. Despite the high porosity due of its design, Porometric offers excellent mechanical stability. Optimized weaves and Porometric filter media are woven from stainless steel wires. As such, they avoid abrasion typical of synthetic mesh and thereby facilitate plastic-free water filtration. Thanks to these characteristics, they help reduce entry of microplastics into urban waters, aquacultures or other environments. GKD offers both mesh ranges in process-specific designs for all types of screening and filter segments, filter cartridges and discs, as well as in the form of screens for drum filters or inserts for filter baskets. The experienced filtration experts from GKD will be on hand to answer questions and discuss application options during the AQUATECH exhibition in Amsterdam.
