GKD at INDEX: Strong mesh for the nonwovens industry

Kindly note that we are a certified essential service during the COVID-19 lockdown, please view our certificate for more information.

At INDEX in Geneva, GKD showcases new products and enhancements to its successful product portfolio.

The new CONDUCTIVE 2215 process belt mesh for nonwoven forming features a special surface structure. Created by the interaction of special polyester filaments, the filament diameter, weave technology, and air permeability, this belt type enables precise nonwoven deposit and good extraction. It also reliably prevents fiber entanglement and fiber loss. This increases process efficiency, particularly when processing short-fiber, bleached cotton with airlay forming. The electrostatic charge that occurs during forming processes is securely discharged via carbon-coated filaments.

GKD presents another highlight at INDEX with the new, stronger glass hybrid fabric design with anti-stick coating. This belt type, ideal for thermal bonding of highly voluminous or heavily compressed products in double-belt ovens, has repeatedly proven its excellent performance many times over. The single-ply mesh made of stainless-steel wires and fiberglass strands – available in both magnetic and non-magnetic form – is an energy-efficient, lightweight product with full PFA coating. Maximum cross stability, minimized cleaning intervals, significantly higher production speeds, and a much longer service life are testament to the cost-effectiveness of this process belt mesh.

GKD’s trade fair appearance will also focus on the CONDUCTO 7690 forming belt made of polyester monofilaments and metallic multifilaments. This mesh design can even be safely used in the production of demanding medical or hygiene products. This is made possible by metal fibers that are woven into the back of the belt, which do not come into contact with the product. In addition to its ability to dissipate electrostatic charge up to ten times more effectively than conventional belts, the homogeneous web formation, good carrying properties, and precise nonwoven removal all contribute to greater process reliability.

For converting processes, which require a seamless belt, GKD spiral belts present an attractive solution. Designed specifically for each customer and application in terms of air permeability, tracking stability, and form stability, they are a proven alternative, particularly for very wide or high-speed systems used in the hygienic nonwovens sector.

A long service life and process reliability make metal mesh filters ideal for polymer filtration. Whether they are used as discs and cartridges in screen changers, long filters in a spinning beam, or honeycomb supporting plates fitted with special mesh constructions on both sides as blower screens: The components designed for specific processes impress through fine filtration rates with low clogging tendency, reliable filtration of the fusion flow, and homogeneous fiber flow.
