GKD extends administration building by 750 m² office space

In our constantly growing company, the addition of the 3rd floor of the main administration building has created an additional 750 m² of office space. On the one hand, it was necessary to preserve the characteristic and historical building structure and on the other hand to adhere to a strict limitation of the area load by the additional upper floor due to the ground foundation and the procurement of the subsoil.

The lightest possible steel construction, roof cladding using trapezoidal sheet metal, KS masonry and sandwich panels, as wall elements were some of the components that served to solve the requirement.  State-of-the-art insulation materials were used without visually detracting from the building structure.

By using exactly the same window layout and adopting the lateral curves in the style of the 1950s, the unmistakable character of the administration building was completely preserved.

Since January 2020 the floor with its bright, attractive and motivating working environment has been fully occupied. Spacious conference rooms equipped with the latest communication and presentation technology offer us as a global organisation, uncomplicated interaction possibilities that allow for quick and flexible synergies.

The project is another successful example of the combination of tradition and modernity.
